Uí Néill Press is an independent micro press based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, founded by Hanna Nielson, Editor of The Belfast Review. Specialising in literary speculative fiction novels, they aim to publish a small number. of titles per year by authors from or based in the Island of Ireland and UK.

As a micro press, Uí Néill Press primarily aims to publish 2-3 novels per year, written by their staff members as well as other authors. Their titles will be available worldwide through a variety of online platforms (Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Amazon, etc), and can be requested at local bookshops and libraries.

Their mission is to help expand the literary scene, support original authors, and champion human-made books on the Island of Ireland and beyond.

Their debut title Did You Pay the Piper Man? is a literary speculative fiction novel featuring time travel and feminist myth retelling, set in Celtic Tiger era Belfast. Written by Hanna Nielson, Did You Pay the Piper Man? published on 28 November, 2025, and is currently available on Amazon, and soon to be available on book platforms worldwide.

With a focus on literary speculative fiction novels, they hope to consider new ground-breaking manuscripts in fantasy, magic realism, science fiction, and horror when they open for submissions in December, 2026. While they may consider short story collections, they are not interested in poetry, hybrid, graphic novels, scripts, or childrens books at this time.

As a bonus, they offer professional editorial services, author coaching, cover design, and artwork commissions to help independent authors develop their manuscripts for self-publishing.

New titles are planned for 2026, with more details coming soon.
